To change my life, I had to change my shopping trolley.

27 years of on and off dieting and still being overweight told me something loud and clear neither my diets or my lifestyle were helping me get in shape and stay in shape.

One big thing that has changed my life has been changing the contents of my shopping basket.

Once I never went to the supermarket with a plan, and often I was hungry too which meant that the trolley would be piled high with ‘yummy’ foods and treats that had nothing to do with getting in shape.

The veggies in my veggie crisper would go limp most weeks and end up in the bin. I just never got around to prepping and eating them!

How times have changed with persistent effort!

These days I head straight for the fruit, veg and meat section knowing that I’ll make a number of different delicious veggie dishes with a protein accompaniment that I can eat every time I’m hungry, morning, noon and night and keep my body lean.

This was in fact how I shed approx. 20kg in body fat without dieting to get in the best shape of my life and how I stay lean.

I simply changed all my staple meals from cereal, sandwiches, risotto and pasta dishes to hearty veggie and protein-based meals.

  • No expensive meal delivery companies
  • No diet shakes
  • No diet meal plans
  • No confusion about food or how to get and stay in shape
  •  Just preparing and choosing to eat a lot more veggies and fruits each day with some protein to go with it.

These days my veggie crisper is always empty and needing refilling every couple of days!!!

I don’t have to cook separate meals for the family – we all eat the same

I don’t make elaborate meals, they are simple and delicious

I never cook just one meal, I cook 2-3 at a time to make sure the fridge is always full of alternatives to calorie laden snacks, and most of all I love being in shape at 47 years old, all year round, having more energy as a busy mum and I loving my food.

It’s liberating when food finally stops being confusing and you can eat to your hearts content, get lean and stay lean!

The contents of shopping trolley is one of my keys to success.
